Normally here we talk about productivity apps, like note taking, task manager and other productivity tools. Instead of those types of apps, today we are going to talk about a Fitness app called Runkeeper. Even though Fitness apps may seem outside the Norm here, Fitness will help your productivity! So here it is
In my efforts of getting in better shape, I have discovered that it is important to have accountability to hit your fitness goals. I chose a running app for my accountability since I run 3-4 days a week. The App I came across Was Runkeeper. It is a very solid app for running. Below you will find my review of this great App (Side not I have noticed the better in shape I’m getting the more productive I am getting)
Today’s App is RunKeeper by FitnessKeeper Inc.
Features
- it has built in GPS tracking,
- Bluetooth for heart rate monitor,
- audio cues for time, pace, distance, average speed.
- has the ability to customize workout.
- for free has some simple trainer programs. you can pay to get enhanced trainer programs.
- has most aerobic activities(skiing, elliptical,running, rowing, etc….)
- goal settings
- Social links so it can go to Facebook and Twitter so your friends can help motivate you
Your Information is also synced with their website. where you can
- set up various goals
- analyze your run
- find various events in your area(mostly running like 5/10ks and marathons)
- and set up groups so you can see how others you hang with are doing.( I have people from all over the country in my street crew)
Pros of Runkeeper
- The audio cues are great, I get to here how I am doing every half mile(I control how often and what I hear).
- I get to create goals- As we all know, we need goals, and they need to be written down.
- like the ability to share on social media, some people will not like this, for me it is important to have many forms of accountability.
- Last but not least i love the fact i can create custome training plans. I need changes. This Rocks
- cost- its free
Cons of Runkeeper
- biggest con for me is it is missing the ability to create a pace. i want to increase my overall pace, if you see my running performance right now, im all over the board.
- trainer programs,- can get quite expensive, and since i can create my own, would really like to see something more realistic in this pricing model
